  • minor dents and scratches are inevitable during transport. This will not adversely affect the quality whatsoever and is part and parcel of the rustic and authentic appearance of these stock tanks.

  • They are recommended if multiple people use the pool or if you want longer water life.

If your tub or ice bath has a filtration pump, we recommend using the eco3spa range of products. These are specially designed to keep your water clean, clear, and safe without the harsh effects of traditional chemicals. The system uses Active Oxygen to sanitise the water, helping to prevent bacteria and impurities while remaining gentle on your skin. Combined with their water conditioner, it ensures your spa water stays fresh and comfortable with minimal maintenance. The also have no negative effect on the zinc coating of the stock tanks.

  • Zinc coatings help protect metal parts, but chlorine’s strong oxidizing action can gradually degrade the coating, leading to faster corrosion.

Therefore, we do not recommend Chlorine for home use and prefer products like eco3spa and even Bromine tablets are a better bet in our opinion.

If you still want to use chlorine (not recommended)

    Use only:

    • The smallest slow-dissolving tablet (max. the size of a €2 coin) 1 tablet every 1 to 2 weeks Maximum 5 grams • Always in a floating dispenser, never directly in the tank.

NEVER USE CHLORINE WITHOUT A FILTRATION SYSTEM and if the Filtration system is turned off take the Chlorine dispenser out as both will cause rusting of the tank.

  • Traditional stock tank pools are made from galvanized steel, which means the metal is in direct contact with the water. Over time, certain pool chemicals, and high chlorine levels can break down that galvanized coating, which eventually allows rust to form.

Rust develops when the water chemistry becomes too aggressive and begins breaking down the tank’s protective galvanized zinc coating. This usually happens due to:

    • Excessive use of chlorine tablets
    • High cyanuric acid (CYA) buildup
    • Copper-based algaecides
    • Low or fluctuating pH levels
    • Failing to periodically drain and refill the tank

Over time, these conditions gradually strip away the galvanized Zinc layer, exposing the underlying steel — which then begins to rust.

  • Ah, the dreaded rust on a galvanized stock tank pool—don’t panic! Galvanized steel is coated with zinc to prevent rust, but over time or with scratches/exposure to water and chemicals, rust can start to appear. Here’s a clear step-by-step approach:

    Assess the Rust

    • Light surface rust: orange/brown stains, metal still solid.

    • Severe rust: flaking, pitting, metal feels weak.

    Remove Rust Safely

    For light rust/stains:

    1. Drain the tank below the rust line.

    2. Make one of the following gentle cleaning solutions:

      • White vinegar diluted 50/50 with water  5–15 minutes is usually enough, Do not leave vinegar overnight — prolonged contact can damage the galvanized coating, which makes your tank more prone to future rust.

      • Baking soda paste (baking soda + small water amount) Let it sit 15–30 minutes.

    3. Scrub lightly with a non-abrasive pad or soft brush.

    4. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

    For deeper rust/pitting:

    1. Drain and dry the tank completely.

    2. Sand lightly with medium-grit sandpaper to remove flaking rust.

    3. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry.

    4. Apply a galvanized metal primer (rust-inhibiting)

    5. Optional: finish with a waterproof, pond-safe sealant or enamel paint.

      • Make sure it’s labeled safe for skin water contact

    • Stock tank pools for summer fun.

    • Ice baths for recovery and wellness.

    • Hot tubs for year-round relaxation.

    • Accessories like covers, heaters, and pumps.

  • A drain valve is provided for this purpose, it is located at the bottom of the pool, you just need to unscrew it to drain your pool.

  • Only in spaces that can safely handle water overflow and humidity.

Proper flooring and ventilation are essential.

  • Not always. Many customers use their tanks without a pump for casual use.

Pumps and filters are recommended for larger tanks, heavy use, or hot tub setups to keep water clean longer.

  • Generally, not really. The pool should not get too hot to the touch in the sunshine, though we do suggest keeping the pool at least partially shaded. Put it under a tree or try one of our umbrellas for shade. You can use foam noodles you can place over the rim of your Tankkd  Pool to add cushion and protection
